Falguni Pathak will rock at Sankalp '09

MUMBAI: The Times of India will present the much-awaited Dandiya festival-Sankalp Dandiya 09-with the `Dandiya Queen' Falguni Pathak as the lead performer. The venue for the event is Goregaon Sports Club.
Revellers can look forward to a mega event this year, promised Pathak. "We have planned a lot of Gujarati folk songs as the audience asks for it. Apart from that we will have the regular Bollywood hits,'' Pathak said.Pathak feels it is the warmth and adulation she receives from her fans every year at Sankalp that motivates her to perform better. It is one of the main reasons why she chooses to perform in the city despite many offers from other states.
As Pathak is not a trained classical singer, she does not do a daily riyaaz. "I listen to a lot of songs daily, be it Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle or other artistes. I also listen to Gujarati folk music,'' she added. Pathak feels that Mumbaikars have taken the 10-pm deadline in their stride. "I feel the revellers have learnt to manage their time beautifully ever since the deadline came into force,'' said Pathak.
(Students can collect their free passes on first-come-first-serve basis from the TOI office at Trade Avenue, Ground Floor, Suren Road, Andheri, after showing their I-cards from 10 am to 4 pm from September 19 to September 28.)
